African Bloodstone, also known as Seftonite, is a durable variety of chalcedony primarily composed of cryptocrystalline quartz, red jasper, and sometimes pyrite. It features a pale grey base with striking crimson or blood-red spots. African Bloodstone ranks 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, has a density of 2.55 to 2.70 g/cm³, has a compressive strength of approximately 100 to 250 MPa, and has an extremely low porosity (close to 0%) - which is common for microcrystalline quartz types such as bloodstone. We would not recommend leaving your stone within a body of water for an extended period of time, regardless of the stone’s porosity (water absorption rate).
Care Instructions:
(Should be good for most stones but check if additional care is
needed) (Example soft stones may require more gentle care and handling)
Cleaning: Clean with soft cloth and warm, water. Avoid harsh chemicals or soaking in water for extended periods.
Recharging: Place under natural light or moonlight to recharge its energy.
Handling: Handle with care to avoid scratches or damage to the polished surface.
